POLYADDIT PPA masterbatches are high performance fluoroelastomers used in processing of polyolefin polymers. They function by continuously coating the dye with a lubricating fluoropolymer which aids in processing polymers which are high susceptible to melt fracture due to high stresses they undergo at the dye exit. They are used in all extrusion processes like LLDPE blown film, HDPE Pipes, PP Sheets and foams and HDPE Blow molding. They are highly desirable during processing hexane, octane and metallocene– LLDPE which have greater tendency to melt fracture.

Anti-block masterbatches function by creating an even micro-rough surface which reduces direct contact between adjacent layers of film or sheets thereby facilitating easier roll handling. This is because certain polymers like LDPE, LLDPE, metallocene catalysts PE, BOPP film and PET articles tend to adhere to each other preventing their easy movement; this problem is aggravated in modern faster production lines and during the hot summer season. The anti block micro particle acts as spacers between the adjacent film layers effectively separating them and thus reducing the contact area.

Anti static masterbatches are for commodity plastics. Commodity plastics by nature possess an electrical insulating property which gives them the potential to built-up high static charge on their surfaces due to friction caused by dry air moving over themor movement against other the surfaces. By virtue of their insulating nature, polymers of all types allow static charge to build-up on their surfaces, particularly in the case of films and fibers, which have large surface area to volume ratio. Such static charge build-up leads to several undesirable consequences in the final product. For instance, built-up static charge can attract dust onto a food package, which is undesirable aesthetically. At times, static charge can damage circuit boards in electronics packaging and may cause hazards of fire or explosion in the vicinity of flammable materials. The static charge may also cause several processing problems such as difficulty in winding of films or melt-spun fibers, agglomeration of powders during transport,adhesion of films during processing, etc. Such undesirable effects of static charge build-up can be avoided by using masterbatches containing anti static agents. The most commonly used are those compounded internally with the polymer and those applied topically.
